In an update of the 1966 Lewis Gilbert version, the eponymous Alfie is transposed to Manhattan and working as a chauffeur. His conquests include older woman Liz, lonely Nikki and Lonette, his best friend's girl. However, he begins to learn bitter truths about himself and the way he treats women and, by the end of the film, he discovers a degree of humility.
